A couple of weeks ago Microsoft announced new Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification, and now we are offering some live learning experience. I am happy to let you know that our team and I will present on a couple of Microsoft Learn Live sessions on Microsoft Learn TV.

Calling all Windows Server administrators! Join us on Learn TV for this new Windows Server Hybrid study hall series. This seven-part weekly series will answer your questions live, walk through how to configure advanced Windows Server services using on-premises, hybrid, and cloud technologies, and walk through Microsoft Learn modules related to the new Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification. DP-420 Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB Developer Certification Exam Study Guide

DP-420 Study Guide Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB Developer

Microsoft just announced a new DP-420 Designing and Implementing Cloud-Native Applications Using Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB. That is why I want to share my new updated DP-420 Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty Certification Exam Study Guide with you.  If you are passing the DP-420 exam, you will earn the Microsoft Certified Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty certification, which you understand how to implement and manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built with Azure CosmosDB and Microsoft Azure Data Services.

Typical responsibilities for developers in this role include designing and implementing data models and data distribution, loading data into a database created with Azure Cosmos DB, and optimizing and maintaining the solution. These professionals integrate the solution with other Azure services. They also design, implement, and monitor solutions that consider security, availability, resilience, and performance requirements. Professionals in this role have experience developing apps for Azure and working with Azure Cosmos DB database technologies. They should be proficient at developing applications by using the Core (SQL) API and SDKs, writing efficient queries and creating appropriate index policies, provisioning and managing resources in Azure, and creating server-side objects with JavaScript. They should also be able to interpret JSON, read C# or Java code, and use PowerShell.

Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification

Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification

At today’s Windows Server Summit 2021, Microsoft just announced two new Windows Server exams, and by passing these exams you will earn the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification. The two exams are AZ-800 Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure and AZ-801 Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services. This will be a great certification for Windows Server administrators working in a hybrid environment, on-premises, and in Microsoft Azure. Especially when focusing on Windows Server 2022.

The AZ-800 and AZ-801 exams will go into beta towards the end of 2021 and will likely be generally available early in 2022. 

Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

Candidates for the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification should have subject matter expertise in configuring and managing Windows Server on-premises, hybrid, and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform workloads.

Responsibilities for this role include integrating Windows Server environments with Azure services and managing Windows Server in on-premises networks. This role manages and maintains Windows Server IaaS workloads in Azure, in addition to migrating and deploying workloads to Azure.

This role typically collaborates with Azure administrators, enterprise architects, Microsoft 365 administrators, and network engineers.

Candidates for this certification administer core and advanced Windows Server workloads and services using on-premises, hybrid, and cloud technologies. Passed AZ-600 Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate Certification Exam

I took the AZ-600 Configuring and Operating a Hybrid Cloud with Microsoft Azure Stack Hub exam back in January 2021 when it was in beta. Today, I just got the mail in my inbox informing me that I passed the AZ-600 Configuring and Operating a Hybrid Cloud with Microsoft Azure Stack Hub exam to receive the Microsoft Certified: Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate certification. 

My Azure Stack journey began very early in 2015 and back in 2018, I passed the legacy 70-537 Configuring and Operating a Hybrid Cloud with Azure Stack Exam. Now the AZ-600 is the refreshed version on becoming an Azure Stack Hub operator.

What is the Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate certification?

Candidates for the Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate certification are Azure administrators or Azure Stack Hub operators who provide cloud services to end users or customers from within their own datacenter using Azure Stack Hub.
Their responsibilities are to plan, deploy, package, update, and maintain the Azure Stack Hub infrastructure. They also offer hybrid cloud resources and requested services and manage infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).
They serve as part of a larger team dedicated to cloud-based management and security or hybrid environments as part of an end-to-end infrastructure.
Candidates for this certification should have significant experience managing and operating Azure Stack Hub environments. They should have a strong understanding of Azure, in addition to some knowledge of virtualization, networking, and identity management. They need to understand how Azure Stack Hub enables DevOps processes and the hybrid development model.

New Microsoft Security Certification Exams in Beta

Microsoft just announced 4 new Microsoft Security Certification beta exams. These new exams have the exam codes SC-900, SC-200, SC-300, and SC-400. All of the exams are related to different security topics, and all of them come with an 80% discount code for the first 300 people. The seats are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. You must register for the exam on or before March 15, 2021. Take the exam as soon as possible, so we can leverage your comments, feedback, and exam data in our evaluation of the quality of the questions. Exam SC-200: Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (beta)

The Microsoft Security Operations Analyst collaborates with organizational stakeholders to secure information technology systems for the organization. Their goal is to reduce organizational risk by rapidly remediating active attacks in the environment, advising on improvements to threat protection practices, and referring violations of organizational policies to appropriate stakeholders.

Responsibilities include threat management, monitoring, and response by using a variety of security solutions across their environment. The role primarily investigates, responds to, and hunts for threats using Microsoft Azure Sentinel, Azure Defender, Microsoft 365 Defender, and third-party security products. Since the Security Operations Analyst consumes the operational output of these tools, they are also a critical stakeholder in the configuration and deployment of these technologies.

Skills measured

  • Mitigate threats using Microsoft 365 Defender (25-30%)
  • Mitigate threats using Azure Defender (25-30%)
  • Mitigate threats using Azure Sentinel (40-45%)

Exam SC-300: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (beta)

The Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator designs, implements, and operates an organization’s identity and access management systems by using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). They manage tasks such as providing secure authentication and authorization access to enterprise applications. The administrator provides seamless experiences and self-service management capabilities for all users. Adaptive access and governance are core elements to the role. This role is also responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting for the identity and access environment.

The Identity and Access Administrator may be a single individual or a member of a larger team. This role collaborates with many other roles in the organization to drive strategic identity projects to modernize identity solutions, to implement hybrid identity solutions, and to implement identity governance.

Skills measured

  • Implement an identity management solution (25-30%)
  • Implement an authentication and access management solution (25-30%)
  • Implement access management for apps (10-15%)
  • Plan and implement an identity governance strategy (25-30%)

Exam SC-400: Microsoft Information Protection Administrator (beta)

he Information Protection Administrator plans and implements controls that meet organizational compliance needs. This person is responsible for translating requirements and compliance controls into technical implementation. They assist organizational control owners to become and stay compliant.

They work with information technology (IT) personnel, business application owners, human resources, and legal stakeholders to implement technology that supports policies and controls necessary to sufficiently address regulatory requirements for their organization. They also work with the compliance and security leadership such as a Chief Compliance Officer and Security Officer to evaluate the full breadth of associated enterprise risk and partner to develop those policies.

This person defines applicable requirements and tests IT processes and operations against those policies and controls. They are responsible for creating policies and rules for content classification, data loss prevention, governance, and protection.

Skills measured

  • Implement information protection (35-40%)
  • Implement data loss prevention (30-35%)
  • Implement information governance (25-30%)
