Veeam just released the Veeam Task Manager for Hyper-V. The Task Manager for Hyper-V is a lightweight tool which doesn’t need to be installed you can just run it from a USB stick for example. The Veeam Task Manager for Hyper-V visualizes real-time performance data from your Hyper-V host and each child VM running on that host. You will be able to view what resources the parent partition is using and at the same time see what compute performance your virtual machines are using. This will make your life much easier if you need to see what resources are consumed on the Hyper-V host.
You can get more information about the Veeam Task Manager for Hyper-V on Mike Resslers (Microsoft MVP and Product Strategy Specialist for Veeam) blog post: Announcing: Veeam Task Manager for Hyper-V
And you can download it directly from the Veeam Website for free: Veeam Task Manager for Hyper-V

Hi Thomas,
This tool looks great.
I have a couple of quick Qs for you:
* Is it possible to run this on win server 2008 R2 and monitor the hyper-v host running on the same box?
I have seen the reqs and I don’t think this will install on W2K8R2:
* Even if it does install will this be able to monitor hyper-v on W2K8R2?
Background: this is for a home lab that I use for potential work (hopefully!) so I’m quite happy to mess about with orca (e.g. for the .msi to actually run) and hack about with other things if necessary. AFAIK (and this is a limited guess) this tool would hook into the perf counters on the VMs; hence I’m hoping this would work OK in W2K8R2.
Would you be able to advise?
Many Thanks,
Mr Ben
I think only 2012 and 2012 R2 are supported, but you should check with the Veeam guys on that.
On seconds thoughts perhaps I should bother the chaps @ Veeam about this!
Apologies if I have cluttered up your comments.
Mr Ben
