Experts Live Switzerland 2020 Azure Hybrid - Learn about Hybrid Cloud Management with Azure

Experts Live Switzerland 2020: Azure Hybrid – Learn about Hybrid Cloud Management

A couple of months ago I was speaking at Experts Live Switzerland 2020 in Bern. Now the recording of my session: “Azure Hybrid – Learn about Hybrid Cloud Management” is available online! In this session, I will give you an overview of the Hybrid Cloud offering of Microsoft Azure and how you can use the Azure Hybrid services like Azure Arc, Azure Update Management, Azure Stack, and many more to introduce new Hybrid Cloud Management to your environment.

What is Azure Arc enabled servers:

Azure Arc enabled servers allows you to manage your Windows and Linux machines hosted outside of Azure, on your corporate network or another cloud provider, similar to how you manage native Azure virtual machines. When a hybrid machine is connected to Azure, it becomes a connected machine and is treated as a resource in Azure. To deliver this experience with your hybrid machines hosted outside of Azure, the Azure Connected Machine agent needs to be installed on each machine that you plan on connecting to Azure.

Azure Hybrid Cloud Architectures

How to create Azure Hybrid Cloud Architectures

Hybrid Cloud is important for many companies out there since hybrid cloud will be an end state for many customers and not just an in-between state until they have moved everything into the cloud. But how do we leverage all the hybrid cloud offerings of Microsoft Azure, and how do we build Azure hybrid cloud architectures? That is what we addressed with many new hybrid cloud architectures in the Azure Architecture Center. There you can find Architecture diagrams, reference architectures, example scenarios, and solutions for common hybrid cloud workloads.

These architectures focus on my different topics like:

Azure Hybrid Cloud Architectures

Here are some of the examples we have added to the Azure Architecture Center. You can find more Azure hybrid cloud architectures here.

Hybrid Security Monitoring using Azure Security Center and Azure Sentinel

This reference architecture illustrates how to use Azure Security Center and Azure Sentinel to monitor the security configuration and telemetry of on-premises and Azure operating system workloads. This includes Azure Stack.

Microsoft Azure Hybrid Cloud Virtual Event

Join the Free Microsoft Azure Hybrid Cloud Virtual Event

I am happy to let you know about another free online event where I am presenting with Microsoft Senior Azure Product Marketing Manager, Dave Kurth, about Azure Hybrid Cloud solutions. This free virtual event will be on October 7 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm (CEST). In this session, you will learn about the unique approach from Microsoft about Azure hybrid cloud. David Kurth will share with you Microsoft’s Hybrid Cloud strategy. I will be joining him to showcase the outlined strategies in powerful demos. We will also share use cases and customer stories and how our approach is different from our competitors.

Microsoft Azure Hybrid Cloud Virtual Event Topics

Since the event is over, you can watch the recording here:

About the Speakers:

Dave Kurth (Senior Azure Product Marketing Manager)

David is a Senior Azure Product Marketing Manager. He is focused on Azure Hybrid, specifically Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack Edge. Before that, he successfully led the Cloud + AI business Switzerland. Apart from his professional endeavors, he has lent his skills to causes involving humanitarian actions and economic empowerment.

Thomas Maurer (Microsoft Senior Cloud Advocate)

Thomas works as a Senior Cloud Advocate at Microsoft. He engages with the community and customers worldwide to share his knowledge and collect feedback to improve the Azure cloud platform. Before joining the Azure engineering team (Cloud + AI), Thomas was a Lead Architect and Microsoft MVP to help architect, implement, and promote Microsoft cloud technology. Azure Arc Center - Azure Portal

Check out the new Azure Arc Center – Azure Portal

During the Microsoft Ignite 2020 virtual conference, Azure Arc got a couple of enhancements and announcements. For example, Azure Arc enabled servers is now generally available and Azure Arc and Azure Arc enabled data services is now in public preview. If you want to learn more what Azure Hybrid announcements we had at Microsoft Ignite 2020, check out (Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Azure) blog post. One of the enhancements which I find super helpful, but didn’t get a special mention, is the new Azure Arc Center blade in the Azure Portal.

All Azure Arc Resources

All Azure Arc Resources

In the Azure Arc Center, you can now find an overview of all your hybrid cloud resources and services you can use together with Azure Arc. These include different Azure Arc enabled services like:

You cannot just get an overview of different Azure Arc services, but also find an easy way to onboard, connect, and register new hybrid resources. To open the Azure Arc Center Blade, navigate to Azure Arc in the Azure Portal.

I hope this was helpful if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

Azure Stack Hardware Augmented Reality AR Experience

Azure Stack Hardware Augmented Reality AR Experience App

As you know, Microsoft Ignite 2020 has gone virtual this year. We have some great sessions, engagement options, the Cloud Skills Challenge, and much more for you. However, one part I would have missed this year would have been the expo hall, where I could look at all the new Azure Stack hardware. That is why the Azure Stack team created a mobile app that allows you to look at Azure Stack hardware and new form factors through augmented reality (AR) in the comfort of your environment.

This app allows you to look at some of our Azure Stack hardware portfolio, including Azure Stack Hub, Azure Stack HCI, and the all-new Azure Stack Edge and Azure Stack Edge pro devices, running at the edge in your Hybrid Cloud environment.

If you want to learn more about the Azure Stack portfolio, check out my blog post and the following links.

  • Azure Stack Hub – Azure Stack Hub broadens Azure to let you run apps in an on-premises environment and deliver Azure services in your datacenter.
  • Azure Stack Edge – Azure Stack Edge brings the compute power, storage, and intelligence of Azure right to where you need it—whether that’s your corporate data center, your branch office, or your remote field asset.
  • Azure Stack HCI – Azure Stack HCI is a new hyper-converged infrastructure operating system delivered as an Azure service providing the latest and up to date security, performance, and feature updates.

Azure Stack Hub Partner Solutions Video Series

The Azure Stack Hub Partner Solutions Video Series

This week Tiberiu Radu (Microsoft Program Manager) and I had the chance to launch the Azure Stack Hub Partner Solutions video series. Azure Stack Hub is part of the Azure Stack portfolio, and has led the way for Microsoft’s Hybrid cloud offerings and partners have joined us to enhance the hybrid cloud journey of our customers. These partners and customers have built solutions that leverage Azure Stack Hub as part of their hybrid cloud strategy. In this video series, we explore the ways our customers and partners use, deploy, manage, and build solutions on the Azure Stack Hub platform.

Join Thomas Maurer (@ThomasMaurer) and Tiberiu Radu (@rctibi) in  this series, as we will meet customers that are deploying Azure Stack Hub for their own internal departments, partners that run managed services on behalf of their customers, and a wide range of in-between as we look at how our various partners are using Azure Stack Hub to bring the power of the cloud on-premises.

You can find more information check out Tiberiu’s blog post on Tech Community, and you can check out the first three videos:

Through August, we have quite a few partner videos following, and we will update this thread, as well as announce them on our Twitter feeds (#AzStackPartners) – follow us in this journey as we explore the partner solutions built on Azure Stack Hub!
