Finally Microsoft just announced the Surface Pro prices and dates for the European countries such as Switzerland.

Surface Pro will be available in Switzerland on May 30th, priced as follows:

64 GB Surface Pro: CHF 959.-
128 GB Surface Pro: CHF 1‘059.-

The following accessories will be available at launch:

Touch Cover at CHF 130.- (recommended retail price)
Type Cover at CHF 140.- (recommended retail price)
Wedge Touch Mouse Surface Edition at CHF 79.90 (recommended retail price)

Microsoft TechDays 2012 Switzerland – SCVMM 2012 SP1 and Hyper-V 2012 Session Online

Swiss Microsoft Surface Event

Today it’s not only valentines day, it’s also the day where the Microsoft Surface RT comes available in more countries includes Switzerland. And for this Microsoft made a small event for the Microsoft Surface Launch in Switzerland.

The Surface is available in Switzerland via the Microsoft Online Store and some retail stores like Media Markt. And with the launch in Switzerland you can also get the Type Cover and the Touch Cover with a Swiss keyboard layout.

Because I already own a Microsoft Surface RT, I still I hope I can pick up a Microsoft Surface Pro next week on the Microsoft Global MVP Summit 2013.

Microsoft TechDays 2012 Switzerland presentations online

Last week Microsoft Switzerland organized their largest event in 2012 called TechDays 12 which took place in the beautiful city Basel.

Two days sessions about the latest and greatest Microsoft technology for IT Pros and developers. I had a session together with Michel Lüscher from Microsoft Switzerland about System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 SP1. Of course there were a lot of great session with itnetx contribution from Philipp Witschi, Marcel Zehner (MVP System Center Data Center and Cloud Management) and the former Microsoft Switzerland employee Markus Erlacher who will be joining itnetx on 1st of March 2013.

After reading my RSS feeds and Twitter feed I saw a blog post from Marcel van den Berg (vExpert 2011 from the Netherlands) that the sessions are now online available.

Geekmania 2012 Recap

Last Friday I had two session at Geekmania 2012, a the conference for real geeks. Together with other architects and engineers of itnetx we were presenting lot of cool stuff around Microsoft Virtualization and Systems Management at Level 400.

In my two sessions me and Philipp Witschi from itnetx talked about the new Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V features like Hyper-V Replica and in the second session I focused on Hyper-V over SMB, showing new features and possibilities of SMB 3.0.

A great thing to see was the full cinema hall (around ~120 people) during the Hyper-V and Windows Server 2012 Storage session, which shows the great interested in Hyper-V.

I hope people could learn something new and enjoyed my sessions and Geekmania 2012. It was great to talk to a lot of people about the new Hypervisor.

itnetx – Winner of the Microsoft Datacenter Partner of the Year Award 2012

Today the Swiss IT consulting and engineering company itnetx gmbh, focused on Microsoft Private Cloud solutions based on Microsoft System Center and Microsoft Hyper-V, received the Microsoft Partner of the Year Award 2012 in the category Datacenter. This is the second time in a row itnetx was awarded by Microsoft as Partner of the Year. In 2011 itnetx also won the Microsoft Partner of the Year Award in the category Datacenter.

It’s great to be a part of itnetx team and well it feels great to if your hard and innovation driven work gets awarded by Microsoft.

Finally got my Nokia Lumia 900

Now after using the HTC TITAN for a while I finally got my Nokia Lumia 900 here in Switzerland. My first Windows Phone was the HTC Trophy which I got back in in November 2010. One year later I got the HTC TITAN and the Nokia Lumia 800.

Now since yesterday I own the Nokia Lumia 900, and I think it is the best Windows Phone at the moment.

Some of the key features or reasons for the Lumia 900 are:

Great Nokia build quality
Awesome design
4.3 inch screen perfect size for me
Great display colors
Good 8 MP camera
Internet Sharing (still waiting for a update for my Lumia 800)
super fast (Like in every other Windows Phone)
excellent antenna performance (I am at some places where I get really bad signal, and other phones like the iPhone and the HTC Titan are dropping calls from time to time, my Lumia 900 gets a much better reception.)
