Sharepoint prompts for login credentials

If you use a Hosted SharePoint 2010 and you try to open a Word Document or try to open a Document Library with Explorer SharePoint prompts for login credentials even you are already logged in. To stop this behavior in Internet Explorer you can simply add your SharePoint Site to the Local Intranet Zone.

This is because SharePoint uses Windows Authentication. We deiced to use Windows Authentication because only Windows Authentication allows you to easily use the full feature set of SharePoint Foundation 2010.

  1. Open Internet options and click on the Security tab and choose Local Intranet
    Internet options
  2. Now click on Sites. On the first Windows choose Advanced
    Local Intranet
  3. Now add your SharePoint Site URL
    SharePoint Site URL
  4. Restart Internet Explorer

How to lock a Mac Screen

Posted on July 20, 2010 by Thomas Maurer

I work often with my notebook at school or by customers, so I need something to quickly lock my screen for security reasons. There is an easy way to lock the screen of Mac OS X and also save battery life.

First check the checkbox for “Require password after sleep or screen saver begins”

Mac OS X Lock ScreenNow I create a new active Screen Corner with “Put Display to Sleep”

Mac OS X lock ScreenNo I can just move my cursor in the bottom left corner and my screen gets black. After I move my mouse or press a key I need to login again. But all programs run in the background.
